What's the difference of Boom vs to other services like Western Union & MoneyGram?
For starters they charge PER transaction!!! Isn't that crazy? With us your transfers are on us. They also charge more money if you need to send them immediately... we don't charge a penny for this. While other companies charge you for your every movement of money, we want to make you feel that you can do what you want, whenever you want with your money.
Why do I have to register to become a Boom member? Why does my recipient have to register?
Boom works like no other service. We use mobile technology to make money management easier. Saving, sharing or spending is easier, quicker, safer and cheaper. Thus, for security reasons, we require all Boom participants to become members. And who wouldn’t want to share something so awesome?
Why do I need an ID?
Since Boom lets you and your loved ones share money through your mobile phones, we just need to make sure it’s you who requested the transfer or your loved one who received the money. Having an ID tied to your account helps us protect you and your money.

What's the kit for and how can I get one?
Apart of being a beautifully designed item, the membership kit provides the member with several useful things. First and foremost, it includes your Boom Prepaid Card, which you need to withdraw money, make purchases in participant stores (U.S. only) or get cashback (Mexico only). The kit also includes our Terms & Conditions and a SMS Quick Reference Card to keep in your wallet at all times.
Where can I load (U.S. only) & withdraw money?
You can now load money via select 7-Eleven stores or other participating retailers across the U.S.. The load fee is anywhere from $2 to $3 depending on location. Note: Loading fees may vary depending on which third-party load partner is used. Other program fees and restrictions may apply. See the Terms & Conditionsfor details. We also partner with a number of local businesses; if you can't seem to find a store close to you feel free to call us at 1-888-880-6842 from the U.S. for other convenient locations or click here. Withdrawing money is very easy. Just go to the closest participating ATM with your Boom Prepaid Card. Boom charges US$2 per withdrawal. Note: Some ATM operators also charge a fee to use their ATM. We do not control or impose these fees. Boom only charges US$2 per withdrawal, but the first 3 (three) of each month are FREE.
What are the differences between U.S. and Mexico memberships?
There are two main differences. A U.S. member gets the benefit of being able to load money into their Boom account. Unfortunately, that feature is not yet available in Mexico. The other difference is in the withdrawal methods. While everyone can withdraw cash from ATMs, U.S. members can use their Boom Prepaid Card to make purchases at participating stores (like a Debit Card) while Mexico members can pay (and get cash back if needed!) for purchases with Boom account to Boom account money transfers at participating stores.
What happens if I lose my Boom Prepaid Card?
Don’t panic! Simply call customer care at 1-888-880-6842 from the U.S. or 01-800-681-9201 from Mexico at any time and we’ll ship out a new card as fast as possible. Once you receive and activate your new card with us your money will be available immediately. Note: Boom charges additional fees for replacement cards. See your Terms & Conditions for more information.
What happens if I lose my mobile phone?
Don’t worry! Nobody will be able to use your Boom account without your secret PIN. Once you get a new phone, your account will work the same way as usual. In the case your phone number changes, please give us a call at 1-888-880-6842 from the U.S. or 01-800-681-9201 from Mexico and we’ll update your account.
How do I add a nickname?
Adding a nickname to someone you send money often is easy. Just give us a call at 1-888-880-6842 from the U.S. or 01-800-681-9201 from Mexico. You’ll only need a name, mobile phone number and a nickname (like ‘MAMA’ or ‘FLACO’. Hey, we’ve heard it all!). The next time you want to send money to that person just send us a text message with the amount you want to send and their nickname and VOILA. You’re done!
What’s my PIN and secret question?
Your PIN is a 4-digit password that you select so we can ensure that you are the right person as well as to take money out of your Boom Prepaid Card. Your recipient will also have their own PIN so nobody else can access their account. A secret question is something you provide us in case you ever forget your PIN and want to establish a new one. For example, your secret question can be your favorite color or favorite food. It should be something only you know.
How do I change my PIN or secret question?
Simply call 1-888-880-6842 from the U.S. or 01-800-681-9201 from Mexico to change either of these. We’ll send you a confirmation text message so you have it for your records.
How much money can I send? What are the limits?
You can send whatever amount you want up to a maximum of US$500 per day. This daily limit is independent from the ATM and POS limits. Please check our Terms & Conditions for more information or just call us at 1-888-880-6842 from the U.S. or 01-800-681-9201 from Mexico.
