How it works

How to send money from the U.S.

There are 2 types of people: those who like to write and those who like to talk. When it comes to sending money you could be either or.
Important: The recipients also need to be Boom members, so in case they aren’t, we’ll get them set up!
Note: Your mobile phone must be SMS (text message) enabled. Standard message and data rates apply. Contact your carrier for more information.

Send a text message to 22334 in the following format:
SEND <amount> <receiver's mobile phone number or nickname>
Example:
SEND 200 13105555555 or
SEND 200 MAMA
Our automated system or a live rep will call you back immediately, confirm your PIN and off your money goes!
Give us a ring at 1-888-880-6842, tell us to whom you would like to send money and how much. Then simply confirm your PIN and you’re done.
You and the recipient will get notified about your transaction and the money becomes available immediately.

How to send money from Mexico

Give us a ring at 01-800-681-9201, tell us to whom you would like to send money and how much. Then simply confirm your PIN and you’re done.
You and the recipient will get notified about your transaction and the money becomes available immediately.

How to add a new recipient

  1. Easy, just give us a call at
    1-888-880-6842 from the US or 01-800-681-9201 from Mexico.
    You’ll only need a name, mobile phone number and a nickname (like ‘MAMA’ or ‘FLACO’. Hey, we’ve heard it all!).
    Important: The recipients also need to be Boom members, so in case they aren’t, we’ll get them set up!

 

How to withdraw money in the U.S.

  1. Spend with your Boom PrePaid Card or use your Boom Prepaid Card to withdraw cash from participating ATMs.
    Note: Boom charges US$ 2 per withdrawal but the first 3 (three) of each month are FREE! (+)
  2. Go and live a little.

 

How to withdraw money in Mexico

  1. Use your Boom PrePaid Card to withdraw cash from participating ATMs. Or get cash back on purchases at participating stores.
